So, Brian Molefe has been sworn in as an MP and is apparently being groomed to take over from Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan. But isn’t this the guy who shed crocodile tears and then resigned from Eskom after being fingered by the former public protector as one of the main protagonists in the saga that gifted the Guptas R587m to buy a coal mine in an underhand deal? President Jacob Zuma is still smarting from having to do an about-turn and replace Des van Rooyen with Gordhan — can you imagine if we end up with Molefe and Van Rooyen running the Treasury in a last-ditch attempt at grand-scale theft?
