Prof Ben Turok provides a prescription for the ills of the ANC and the South African economy, but he has missed the diagnosis (Miners balk at talking about adding value, February 21). It was the culture on Wall Street that led the best minds from the best universities of the US to orchestrate the collapse of the world financial system in the subprime crisis. Similarly, it was the culture of the ANC that led its best cadre in Parliament to recognise and describe the R6m rondavel at Nkandla but do nothing about it. The same culture led to the behaviour of the health service and the death of 100 mentally ill patients in Gauteng. Transport Minister Dipuo Peters describes the same culture leading to poorly trained drivers and unroadworthy vehicles being on our roads. There is no treatment to change this. Let the terminally ill ANC die in peace. Quack remedies will do nothing. John WeinkoveCraighall
