What sort of African dictator is Yahya Jammeh, the former president of The Gambia? He should be ashamed of himself for letting down the club, giving up power after only 22 years of tyranny. Clearly, he didn’t attend the full dictator’s course and missed the module on elections, which teaches: don’t have them, but if you do, beat up your opposition, rig the count and if you still lose, drag the country into civil war. He is, however, well acquainted with the obligatory race-card module, illustrated by his recent withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (one wonders why), which he called the International Caucasian Court.
