Donald Trump’s election as US president would actually be entertaining if it were not so potentially damaging to world politics, international relations, tolerance among races and religions and the future of our beautiful planet. As a nature lover and concerned world citizen, I am deeply perturbed by his lack of understanding of, and insensitivity towards, global warming and the need for strong action to protect our planet for future generations. His irresponsible statements in this regard have now been cemented by his senior appointment in this field. I expect one of the first and fiercest battles will be fought around his policies and appointments in the field of the environment. He seems to only really understand dollars, business (and power as reflected by the appointments of billionaires and generals) and will clearly be ruthless in pursuing economic growth at whatever cost to the environment.
