The SABC, the embattled public broadcaster, is struggling to stay out of the news for the wrong reasons. Much of the bad press is its own goals, it turns out. 

Last month, its head of news, Moshoeshoe Monare, disclosed that he had been asked to subject himself to a lie-detector test by an agent from the State Security Agency (SSA). Controversially, it has since emerged that the test, which is part of his vetting, was commissioned by his employer — not the ANC or government. ..
