When Telkom announced in July that its long-standing CEO Sipho Maseko will step down at the end of this financial year, it looked like the execution of one of the company’s biggest corporate actions would fall on his successor.

Either way, Serame Taukobong, who is on course to take over from Maseko when he leaves the company next June, would have inherited a company that under Maseko had done most of the heavy lifting..
