The government, the media, civil society — none of these care for the old and the frail, making SA a cold and heartless society

Painfully slowly, the government is procuring Covid-19 vaccines. Even then, the distribution wheel is turning slower still. All of which comes at a human cost. Always the executive points to the horizon, but as things stand the sun is setting, not rising. And it is setting faster for some than others.
No ordinary SA citizen has received a vaccine to date. At the front of that immobile queue are the elderly. However, because they are a powerless constituency you’d never know. We have more important things to worry about...
