The start of the festive season is usually the time of plenty for the aviation and tourism sectors. As local citizens switch off from their work routines and head for holiday destinations, the sector — and its bigger value chain, including transport companies, the hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues — prepare themselves for the annual financial bonanza.
However, the persistence of the pandemic — and the elusive pursuit of the vaccine — continues to create human, social and economic casualties...
