Perhaps it is apt that the Southern Kings closed shop for the year in the same week as events in the Western Province boardroom confirmed my fears that elected officials will always be turkeys that never vote for Christmas.
The Kings may never have found themselves being forced by financial reality into taking a step towards possible extinction had the foreign investors that were sniffing around Eastern Province rugby a couple of years ago been courted more seriously...
