Cyril Ramaphosa has to clean up the party but his problems are systemic and operational

Over the past few weeks President Cyril Ramaphosa would have seen his political life and legacy flash before his eyes.
Having styled himself as the president who would restore integrity to public institutions and cleanse and unite the ANC, that facade has been ripped away, leaving him shoulder to shoulder with the same old ANC cronies the public has come to hate. Going by his letter to ANC members on Sunday, Ramaphosa has realised that to be seen as clean himself he will have to clean up the ANC. But can it be done?..
