Rassie Erasmus should have pleased most critics with his first selection as Springbok coach but it will start to get harder for him from today as he prepares to address the captaincy issue that dominated so much of the pre-announcement speculation. Not all Bok coaches have stuck strictly to the form in selecting their teams. Erasmus has got that right. Few of the players in his 43-man squad have come out of so-called left field and most have shown good form either in Super Rugby or overseas. There may be some in the Cape who might have raised eyebrows at the exclusion of Dillyn Leyds, but the Stormers utility back hasn’t shown consistent good form in 2018.
