And so the big day arrives, and the Big Donald takes the stage. And … its a big letdown. You have to give him one thing, US President Donald J Trump has crowd-pulling power. Its Friday afternoon and most of the world leaders have started making their way home, including the South African delegation, partly you suspect so they wouldn’t feel obliged to bump into Trump. But the main hall at Davos was filled to the brim, and until the last minute, there were adding chairs to the biggest hall at the World Economic Forum (WEF). There was lots of pomp and a marching band arrived to play Hail to the Chief. The speech was short, simple, and entirely without any rhetorical flourishes or grand gestures.
