There are several attitudinal themes which recur on a regular basis during the course of an individual champion’s career, or a champion team or club for that matter. An approach to competitive sport which means they are almost always among the elite. One of the most common traits of the greats is: "Be the best you can be" rather than: "Be good enough". On many an occasion a captain, coach or leading player has been heard to say: "We know what we have to do to win…" Good. That’s fine. But what turns good sports people into great ones is the addition to that statement, "…and we’ll do whatever we can to go as far beyond that point as possible". Given the Titans’s frankly ridiculous supply of Proteas in this year’s Ram Slam T20 Challenge they could almost certainly win the tournament with a 2nd XI.
