The political dating scene took a spicy turn on Thursday. Listening to President Jacob Zuma’s last question-and-answer session in Parliament was no different to any other since he took office in 2009, to the detriment of accountability. He is impenetrable. Trying to extract the truth from him is akin to hitting one’s head against a brick wall in a bid to see it come crashing down. It is pointless. What was more interesting was the preoccupation of EFF leader Julius Malema and his party while Zuma scornfully dismissed serious questions about his credibility, with his howling supporters in tow, in the fledgling party’s absence from Parliament. Instead, Malema and his party marched to the Israeli embassy in Pretoria to protest against the Palestinian occupation. Malema’s comments at the rally were both spicy and cryptic, but most of all, intriguing.
