The day hospital is becoming a key player in the healthcare market
Healthcare costs are a global concern as governments, providers, insurers and individuals try to contain them. These efforts are driving a trend that reduces time spent in conventional hospitals, with the day hospital becoming a key player in the market. Taking advantage of this shift in healthcare is JSE-listed Advanced Health, a healthcare group specialising in day hospitals in SA and Australia, with facilities aimed at offering a professional and affordable service for most surgical procedures. The shift is especially important in SA, where private hospital care has become increasingly unaffordable. I recently went on a tour of Advanced Healthcare’s Groenkloof Day Hospital in Pretoria.
