Help needed to topple regressive regime
For almost a decade we have had a regime that is completely uninterested in the economy, writes John Dludlu
Two seemingly unrelated events are unfolding. Both have changed everything and make a powerful case for why the ANC can no longer be trusted with leading SA. As expected, the country has slipped into a recession, and every day we wake up to new instalments from #GuptaLeaks. As in the 1980s, South Africans need help from their friends to finally oust a regressive regime and revive Nelson Mandela’s dream. We have to accept that the recession is self-inflicted and came as no surprise. Since 2008, SA’s economic policy has been drifting. The seeds of today’s contraction were sown back then. Our country hasn’t really had an economic vision and plan to follow for almost a decade. Worse, we have had a regime that is completely uninterested (not to be confused with disinterested) in the economy.
