If Ahmed Kathrada had stood on the highest mountain to condemn President Jacob Zuma for the Cabinet reshuffle and removal of Pravin Gordhan as finance minister – separate events that were announced on the same night – I would have believed without too much of a struggle that his words had come from a genuine and honest place in his heart and being. This I cannot say about everyone who has become part of the orgy of condemning the president for axing Gordhan. Not everyone who hates the devil loves God. The same applies to the political battle to oust President Jacob Zuma and arrest the damage he has caused to the ANC, tripartite alliance, postapartheid state and country.It is common cause that Zuma has been a disaster for the country and the ANC, but it is not common cause that every word that condemns him is spoken honestly and genuinely.
