Life outside JSE offers small-cap firms more potential to expand
Companies leave exchange due to high costs inability to raise equity capital and disappointing growth opportunities

It has been reported that from January 2018 to August 2019 as many as 35 companies terminated their listings on the JSE, with 10% of small-cap companies placed under cautionary notice or discussing buyouts or share buybacks.
With disappointing JSE share-price performances that do not always reflect underlying performance, they now seek fresh opportunities that better reflect and enable underlying performance beyond the bourse. The question is: can they unlock more stakeholder value as unlisted entities?..
