INDEPENDENT Media said on Friday that its chief content officer, Karima Brown, had resigned.In a statement on the group’s news website, IOL, the company said Brown had decided to vacate her position at Independent Media due to personal reasons.Independent Media owns The Star, Pretoria News, The Cape Times and the Sunday Independent, among many other titles.Brown has previously worked at the SABC and Business Day, where she was political editor. She also worked as deputy editor at the New Age before walking out, along with several colleagues, following a disagreement with the publication’s owners — the Gupta family — on the eve of the newspaper’s launch.Executive chairman of Independent Media Iqbal Survé expressed "deep regret" about Brown’s departure, saying that she remained a close friend, confidante and "dear comrade".
