Police have been deployed to stabilise a group of about 200 University of SA (Unisa) students who marched outside the campus in Durban on Monday afternoon. South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Capt Nqobile Gwala said the students were protesting near Stalwart Simelane Street about the slow process of registration and frustration over the payment of National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) grants. Gwala said police were on scene and there were no incidents reported. Prospective students blockaded the campus in January after they were prevented from registering due to a staff strike.
