Conversion of 2.1 million customers to the new prepaid system saw only 400,000 people comply

Eskom is set to claw back an estimated R30bn annually in revenue lost as electricity users who previously consumed electricity illegally by bypassing their prepaid meters begin to comply with the power utility’s key revision number rollover project.
Electricity & energy minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says the estimated increased revenue is likely to lower Eskom’s future tariff hike proposals, which often place financial strain on household incomes. ..
