Former prosecutions head Shaun Abrahams has vehemently denied that he targeted former finance minister Pravin Gordhan “in malicious and seemingly politically motivated criminal charges”, and is adamant that he never acted as a puppet for the interests of former president Jacob Zuma. Abrahams has been portrayed as an agent of alleged state capture at the Zondo inquiry, as well as the Mokgoro inquiry into the fitness to hold office of suspended prosecutions heavyweights Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi. But in an affidavit to the Zondo inquiry, whose contents Business Day has been granted permission to publish, he insists nothing could be further from the truth.
