Making the transition from studying to the work place can be daunting. Here are few tips to help you ease into your new environment
After 12 years at school and a few more at a tertiary institution it can be hard to make the transition to the workplace. "Making the move from tertiary education to the workplace requires a lot of adjustments, including learning new skills, managing interactions with clients and colleagues, and working on a team," says ManpowerGroup's MD, Lyndy van den Barselaar. She has the following advice: •As a new recruit, keep in touch with your manager so you know if you are missing the point or making mistakes. •Multitasking may have been shown to be fundamentally unproductive, but most working people find themselves juggling a number of responsibilities most of the time. This means you need to get used to some juggling at least some of the time. •Most lecturers give students a clear idea of what is required to pass or excel in their course.
