As sitting is shown to be the worst way to spend most of your working hours, more companies are offering employees the option to use a standing desk. Richard Andrews, MD of office furniture company Inspiration Office, says: "In the past year, we have had a nearly 50% rise in demand for desks that give office workers the choice of sitting or standing." He says height-adjustable workstations provide companies with a simple solution. Andrews has the following advice for workers wanting to avoid the long-term damage of too much sitting:

Be proactive and ask your manager if you can have a standing desk. "There really is no need to stand all day. Ideally, though, at least every other hour, workers should work standing for an hour," he says;..
