The Electoral Commission of SA’s integrity and reputation are its most vital assets and cannot be sullied ahead of the 2019 general election, says newly appointed chief electoral officer Sy Mamabolo. Mamabolo gave a wide-ranging interview to Business Day following his recent appointment to succeed Mosotho Moepya, who stepped down at the end of March. Mamabolo has been part of the electoral machinery for 20 years. He was a member of the teams that oversaw the 2014 general election and the 2016 local government poll.
