The Department of International Relations and Co-operation’s chief financial officer continues to report for duty despite a cloud hanging over his head, with allegations of impropriety having been levelled against him more than a year ago. In 2016, Caiphus Ramashau dared staff who accused him of financial misconduct to provide proof. He refused to resign. Department director-general Kgabo Mahoai confirmed on Monday that Ramashau was still reporting for duty. An anonymous employee, believed to be represented by the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu), had written to the department, claiming that Ramashau had received kickbacks from service providers. Mahoai told Business Day that the investigation process had not yet been concluded and that the allegations were still being investigated. "He [Ramashau] is not suspended. He is still working at the department," Mahoai said. "There should be a timeline [for the investigation] and there should be a report soon." ...
