ANC presidential hopeful and former African Union Commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has said the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Mduduzi Manana, should be fired. Manana is facing criminal charges following an altercation outside a Johannesburg restaurant during which two women were assaulted. Speaking to the SABC on Tuesday, Dlamini-Zuma said action should be taken against Manana because he has confessed to the crime. Her sentiments are in stark contrast to the views of her supporters, the ANC Women’s League, whose president, Bathabile Dlamini, said the calls for his removal were a "political tool".
