South Africans should send a message of encouragement to Reserve Bank governor Lesetja Kganyago, whose institution was the target of a new campaign to discredit its mandate, former finance minister Pravin Gordhan said on the eve of the Bank’s high court case challenging Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s remedial action. "We must be careful, there is a new campaign to discredit the South African Reserve Bank," warned Gordhan while delivering the closing address at the Democracy Works Foundation’s discussion on democracy defenders on Monday night.
