A forensic investigation commissioned by the speaker’s office in the City of Tshwane has found that more than R10m worth of invoices submitted for work done during the period 2014-16 in the office, could not be corroborated. Nor was there justification for the payments that were requested. Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga said in a statement on Thursday that an investigation had been done by an independent forensics service provider, into invoices submitted by suppliers who claimed to have rendered services or supplied goods to the office of the former speaker, but were not paid for. Tshwane is currently governed by a DA-led coalition government, after the ANC lost power in the 2016 municipal elections.
