ANC has lost Ronnie Mamoepa at a time when it most needs him, says Angie Motshekga
Ronnie Mamoepa’s death comes at a time when the ANC "desperately" needs its best, most seasoned and dedicated cadres to confront the challenges the movement faces, Angie Motshekga said on Thursday.Mamoepa, 56, who was Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesman and one of the youngest prisoners to have been jailed on Robben Island, passed away on Saturday. He suffered a stroke in June that resulted in him being in a coma until his death.Motshekga represented the ANC national executive committee at Mamoepa’s official provincial memorial, where a long list of high-profile speakers, including former African Union chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and former president Kgalema Motlanthe, were to honour his life.
