Activist Mark Heywood has called on Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa "and other honest members of the ANC", to vote President Jacob Zuma out of office. MPs will debate the motion of no confidence in Zuma on August 8, with parties pushing for a secret ballot on the matter. The clamour for Zuma to be voted out has escalated, with ANC MPs Dr Makhosi Khoza and Pravin Gordhan — formerly finance minister — openly defying the party line, calling on the President to step down. Heywood raised the matter on Wednesday in the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg, where a funeral service was held for HIV/AIDS activist Prudence Mabele. She had openly campaigned for Zuma to go.
