The DA-led city of Cape Town has been rated SA’s most trusted municipality, with the metro’s residents said to be the most satisfied with service delivery, according to a new independent survey. The latest South African Customer Satisfaction Index, published on Thursday by independent research firm Consulta, surveyed 3,460 randomly selected customers of SA’s eight metropolitan councils: Johannesburg, Cape Town, eThekwini, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, Nelson Mandela Bay, Mangaung and Buffalo City. Cape Town’s overall index score of 68.5 placed it well ahead of the industry average. However, the city’s score was down from 70.3 in 2016 and 71.9 in the previous year. In general, the index reveals that South African citizens’ satisfaction with their municipalities hit a three-year low, with an industry average of 59.3.
