Former Constitutional Court judge Justice Zak Jacoob said he had not ruled out a political intervention to prevent SA’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC). The decision to pull out of the ICC was taken by the ANC national executive committee and its national general council (NGC) in 2015. Jacoob said on Wednesday, while jurists had made a submission to Parliament to persuade the government not to withdraw from the ICC, he did not rule out discussions with the ANC on the matter. The party heads to its national conference in December where it will ratify policy decisions taken at the NGC and policy conference. The ICC decision is among them. "If circumstances warrant it, I do not exclude the possibility of addressing the ANC directly," Jacoob said. "If Parliament takes the decision to leave [the ICC] now, then [we] will begin the campaign to re-enter. We will continue with this campaign until there is victory." The ANC could not be reached for comment on Wednesday....
