Ajay Gupta has accused Deputy Finance Minister Mcebici Jonas of lying about being offered a bribe and the job of finance minister at a meeting at the family’s house in Saxonwold, Johannesburg The alleged incident took place in October 2015, two months before President Jacob Zuma fired then finance minister Nhlanhla Nene. Gupta said Jonas invented the meeting to create media hype for political gain and provided former public protector Thuli Madonsela with contradictory versions of the incident during her state capture investigation. "The fact of the matter is that Mr Jonas is, with respect, blatantly dishonest when he suggests that he met with me or that I attended a meeting with him," Gupta said in an affidavit he filed in the High Court in Pretoria on Friday.
