The Save SA campaign has saluted the SABC Eight, and all whistle-blowers, for speaking out during the Parliamentary inquiry into what was happening at the public broadcaster. "They are helping to save SA, and have done a great service to our democracy by outlining to Parliament the destructive influence of multiple office-bearer Hlaudi Motsoeneng and the group known as his ‘enforcers’," the campaign said on Tuesday. Details of how the financially hamstrung SABC was channelling money towards the Gupta-owned rival ANN7 TV station emerged during Parliament’s ad hoc committee hearing on Monday. The committee, which is looking into the crisis at the SABC, heard that millions of rand was being used to support the Guptas’ The New Age media breakfasts and none of the profits made from the programming went to the public broadcaster.
