President Jacob Zuma is taking the remedial action in former public protector Thuli Madonsela’s State of Capture report on judicial review, the Presidency announced on Friday. Zuma is filing the review in the High Court in Pretoria. The move by Zuma has come as no surprise, as he had already hinted as much during his question and answer session in Parliament on Wednesday. It also comes on the eve of the 30-day deadline for the establishment of a judicial commission, set in the state capture report, released on November 2. “The President has considered and also sought legal advice on the contents of the report, as well as the remedial action to be taken,” spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga said in a statement on Friday. “The legal advice given and which advice has been accepted by the President is to take the remedial action on review.” The DA said on Friday that it will oppose Zuma's application to review the remedial action of the report.
