The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has announced the appointment of Dr Imogen Mashazi as its new city manager. Mashazi’s appointment, for five years, was confirmed by the council at its sitting held in Germiston on Thursday. She takes over from Khaya Ngema‚ who left the position in August. Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina said he had no doubt about Mashazi’s capabilities as she had been in local government for 20 years. "She has come through the ranks from being an operational staff member to being the chief operations officer — therefore she understands local government very well. "She understands the systems‚ policies and most of all the processes of ensuring that we deliver quality‚ sustainable and predictable services to our people‚" Masina said. TMG Digital
