Lackay to use hearing to put facts in public domain

MYSTERY surrounds whether South African Revenue Service (SARS) commissioner Tom Moyane will testify during Adrian Lackay’s long-awaited constructive dismissal hearing at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), which starts on Monday.The hearing, which the CCMA has declared open to the media, has been set down for the entire week.Lackay is expected to blow the lid off the inner workings of the tax authority when he finally gives his version of events on Monday morning, but SARS on Sunday declined to comment on the hearing, including on whether Moyane would testify against Lackay."I am partly motivated by the desire to put certain facts into the public domain about what happened at SARS," Lackay said on Sunday."I have a very good legal team and full confidence in them, but it’s very difficult on a personal level," he said.The hearing will provide the first opportunity for the airing of allegations about the destabilisation of SARS, the purge of its top struc...
