THE trouble-plagued Nquthu local municipality on Tuesday failed yet again elect municipal officials.This followed a legal wrangle involving a "suspended" EFF councillor.The municipality is one of the nine hung municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal where the ANC and the IFP found themselves almost evenly balanced after the August 3 local government elections.The IFP won 15 seats, the ANC 14, the National Freedom Party (NFP) two while the EFF and the DA had a single proportional representatives (PR) seat each.Nquthu was the only municipality where the NFP was allowed to participate after paying its deposit in time.In August the IFP, DA and EFF signed a pact providing for the parties to vote together against the ANC and to co-govern hung municipalities in the province.All other hung municipalities in the province have elected officials, except for Nquthu and Jozini municipalities.In the two municipalities, political parties have on several occasions failed to elect municipal officials, with ...
