THE government is not siding with big business in frustrating agreement on a national minimum wage and is fully committed to its implementation as soon as possible, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa says.The setting of a minimum wage arose out of a resolution of the African National Congress. Discussion has been under way at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac).Fielding questions in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Mr Ramaphosa responded to Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) chief whip Floyd Shivambu, saying progress was being made towards the achievement of consensus between business, labour and government on the level at which a national minimum wage would be set.
