Oil edges up as US crude stocks pile up
US crude oil stocks were up 1.2-million barrels in the week ended January 3; analysts in a Reuters poll had expected a 3.6-million-barrel drop

London — Oil prices edged higher on Thursday, clawing back some of the sharp losses made in the previous session on the back of easing fears of an escalation in the conflict between the US and Iran, and swelling US crude stocks.
Prices are now back at levels seen before a US drone strike on January 3 that killed a top Iranian general and a rocket attack by Iran on Iraqi airbases hosting US forces, which sent crude to its highest in four months...
