Rand weakens ahead of Reserve Bank decision
Uncertainty persists over Brexit, while global concerns over recession continue to dent sentiment

The rand was softer against major global currencies on Thursday morning, as market jitters over the state of the global economy continued. At 9.45am the rand had weakened 0.41% to R14.6588/$, 0.38% to R16.4921/€ and 0.4% to R19.2938/£. The euro was flat at $1.1251. The bid on the benchmark R186 government note was at 8.754% from 8.71%.
