Imtiaz Suliman from Sentio Capital chose British American Tobacco (BAT) as his stock pick of the day. The share has come under a lot of pressure since November 2018, when the US announced it would consider banning menthol cigarettes. “I think it has priced in a complete loss of that portion of the business, which is quite punitive. These regulations take quite some time to come through before they are fully implemented. It could be a period of seven, maybe 10, years so I think it’s trading at a good dividend yield, and with a price-earnings ratio of 10.”
