South African bonds were mixed shortly before noon on Tuesday, as market turnover remained subdued ahead of major risk events later this week.Locally, the ANC elective conference at the weekend is likewise expected to mute trading, with political headlines closely watched as investors gauge the electoral prospects of various factions.Bonds had rallied slightly on Monday in the wake of rand gains, albeit in light activity, Sasfin Securities bond analysts said.Much of the turnover could be attributed to reinvestment of bond interest-rate payments for December, although the unpredictable outlook could mean investors held back until there was clarity on the future of the ANC, Sasfin said.Major issues this week include court challenges against the validity of various ANC provincial electoral conferences.
