South African futures were marginally up on Friday as the JSE closed flat and the Dow eked out marginal gains at the opening.European markets were firmer following news that the UK had reached a settlement with the EU in that "sufficient progress" had been made to take negotiations further.The FTSE 100 gained 0.69% and the DAX 30 0.81%.The all share ended the day unchanged at 58,012.30 points, while the blue-chip top 40 rose marginally by 0.03%. Banks dropped 1.99%, financials 1.57%, general retailers 0.81%, and property 0.42%. Industrials added 0.59% and the gold index 0.34%.The president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, said earlier on Friday that "sufficient progress" had been made on three key issues in Brexit negotiations to allow the talks to advance to the next phase.
