The JSE opened flat on Friday in choppy trade on Friday morning as the market sought direction after a weak Dow closure on Thursday and amid mixed Asian markets.A weaker rand could support rand hedges on the day; the local currency appeared vulnerable at R14.2972/$ in early-morning trade.Richemont was higher on strong interim results but Telkom dropped on softer interim revenue and earnings.Resources were upbeat on flat commodity prices but industrials slipped as Naspers failed to hold on to earlier gains in the week as Tencent gained in Hong Kong trade. Naspers owns about a third of the high-flying Chinese internet company, which has been the main driver of the growth of 76% in its share price this year.Platinum stocks were weaker but gold gained on the dollar, losing out against the euro in overnight trade.The Dow closed 0.43% lower at 23,461.94 points.
