The JSE all share opened flat on Wednesday as Asian markets rose on Apple’s upbeat third-quarter results, released after the Dow Jones closed at yet another record high. The Dow gained 0.33% to 21,963.92 points. The Nikkei 225 was up 0.47% and the Hang Seng added 0.61%. Apple reported a 13% rise in cash levels, hitting a record $261.5bn, compared with $256.8bn. Momentum SP Reid analysts were unsure whether the all share would sustain this week’s run. It closed at a record high on Tuesday and is up 9.26% in 2017. "Further marginal advances are indicated for the JSE at the outset of today’s session, but, given the stretched near-term technical picture market, participants should adopt a cautious approach," Momentum said. Local industrials were marginally up on Wednesday morning, but trading was complicated by the fact that the rand did not exhibit clear direction, still weakening against the backdrop of a softer dollar.
