Fed-up with all those Raptor-wannabes filling your mirrors with their body-kitted Ford Rangers?

Well you're in luck, because Isuzu is launching the limited edition D-MAX Arctic AT 35 in SA in May .

It is basically a standard 300 4x4 Double Cab LX Auto fitted with a raised suspension system developed in collaboration with Arctic Trucks, an Icelandic company renowned for re engineering 4x4 vehicles.

It’s 48mm taller than the standard model and rides a full 268mm off the ground — ideal for ramping anything from kerbs to traffic islands.

And just in case nobody notices all that, Isuzu has also bolted on a set of flared wheel arches that not only add 180mm of width but also a healthy dose of “don’t-make-me-get-down-from-here” attitude.

“The very exclusive Isuzu D-MAX Arctic AT 35 is aimed at the customer who wants an extremely capable but thoroughly unique bakkie that certainly stands out from the crowd, but demands a properly engineered solution,” says Dominic Rimmer, Executive, Technical Services at Isuzu Motors SA (IMSA).

“Whether driven in arduous off-road conditions or used on the road, this is a rugged and character-filled bakkie certainly commands attention.”

The D-MAX Arctic AT 35 will be priced at R785,000, which includes Isuzu’s standard five-year/120,000km warranty and five-year/90,000km service plan.
