Mercedes-Benz will not have to beat its competitors in the bakkie segment when the new X-Class arrives here. We say this mainly because it will not have any competitors — at least not in the luxury brand segment. Those who expect the X-Class to compete with the Toyota Hilux or Nissan Navara and come in at a similar price can make an appointment to see a doctor now. It is a Mercedes — say it with me, people, Mercedes. It is German, even if it has had some kind of bionic transplant with a Japanese bakkie. But what about the Volkswagen Amarok? It’s also German.
