McLaren 720S — perfection that takes every day seriously
While in the UK, Mark Smyth found out whether the new McLaren 720S is as good as we have heard it is
McLaren might be nowhere on the Formula One circuit these days, but in the automotive world it continues to race ahead with its plans to be spoken of in the same breath as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. Since the MP4-12C hit the market it has launched a slew of new models, but eventually everything needs to be replaced. The first to enter a second generation is the MP4-12C, although the 720S is as far from being second-generation as you can get. It is basically a new model (McLaren says it is 91% new). While in the UK recently, McLaren gave us the chance to spend some time putting the 720S to the test through the pretty county of Sussex. Initially, I have to say that pretty was not a term I applied to the 720S, at least not in the same way as the MP4-12C. Those beautiful curves have made way for something that is more fighter jet in appearance, with a cockpit in the middle of the body and far more edges and sculpting than in any other model.
